This painting started on a found canvas print that was being thrown out , which I washed and painted over before building this whimsical little scene on top.
Sometimes we just want to hide away and decompress in a café — surrounded by people, but without having to interact with anyone, by our selves but not really . To be present without participating. And sometimes, we need to disappear entirely, to retreat .
A fun, slightly surreal painting, fun to make, and a little celebration of finding your own quiet corner of the world.
