The Miscellaneous Side Show

I exhibited in our second-year degree show titled The Miscellaneous Side Show. For the opening night, I wore a full vintage Cambridge 1987 ringmaster outfit – a fantastic find from the Swansea Vintage Clothes Fair! (It’s since been sold at a flea market, as it no longer fit – sadly.)

I’m a neurodivergent artist, which meant I felt different growing up. A lot of my art looks at what it means to belong and accepting differences, all in all it is how I navigate the world, through art and self expression. I have painted for as long as I can remember from around age 4.

My artistic journey has led me to various experiences, including sharing my work on YouTube, participating in Upfest in 2022, showing work at North street gallery and connecting with inspiring creatives along the way. Over the years, I've held diverse roles—from sports massage therapist to dog walker to customer service representative in the home insurance industry, among others. Due to health challenges, I wasn’t able to sustain these jobs for long without significant setbacks. A breakdown in March 2017 ultimately led me back to art.. Above all, I identify as an artist, it is all I know and am able to do, dedicating my days to this passion. I'm deeply grateful to those who have supported me on this journey; their encouragement fuels my dedication to this craft and allows me to lead a creative life.

While it may sound idyllic, the reality is that pursuing art requires a great deal of effort. There are aspects I find challenging, such as managing social media and marketing(connection, putting self out there), but I find joy in the connections formed along the way. Despite the challenges, this remains my vocation—what I believe I'm meant to do in this world. So, I continue to shed the old and embrace growth, constantly reinventing myself amidst the fires of life.
