My First Saatchi Art Sale
I Sold My First Painting on Saatchi Art!*
*via the saatchi platform
I’m so excited to share that one of my paintings has officially sold through Saatchi Art. I first joined the platform back in 2019 but after some time without much activity I thought it was just too big of a marketplace to ever be noticed. Like many artists, I assumed my work might just get lost in the crowd. Recently, though, I heard about a full-time artist who had started their journey there, which gave me the encouragement to give it another go. I decided to update my profile, took fresh photos of several of my pieces—including one I’d kept close to me for a while—and listed them again. Not long after, I received the notification: it sold!
The piece that sold is called The Emotions Melt My Face, a portrait that reflects how my inner world sometimes feels distorted, with shapes and textures slipping and emotions melting into one another. It’s a deeply personal work that I’ve grown very fond of, and while it’s always a little sad to say goodbye (yes, it’s true—artists really do miss their work), it’s also such a joyous moment to know that it’s been chosen by someone who connected with it. Even though the painting is small and after commissions the earnings aren’t huge, the value lies in the momentum, in that spark of recognition, and in the reassurance that people really are finding my art and that connection with another human being.
One part of this experience that I truly enjoy is the chance to hand-deliver my art when possible. Saatchi Art has been fantastic at working with me as an independent artist who prefers that personal touch. For me, hand-delivery is both nerve-wracking and exciting—sometimes it’s just a quick exchange, but it feels meaningful to meet the person who has chosen to live with my painting. There’s something very human about ensuring the work arrives safely and personally thanking the collector for supporting my journey. This way I don’t have tat nervous wait for the courier to deliver it.
This first sale through Saatchi Art may not seem big in numbers, but for me it represents so much more: proof that persistence matters, that refreshing photos and resisting artwork can make a difference, and that platforms as large as Saatchi Art still hold opportunities for emerging and independent artists. While they take a commission upon selling, it is free. It’s also a reminder to keep showing up, to keep sharing, and to let each piece find its own home in the world.
Will see if they go for hand delivery or if will have to wait anxiously for the painting to arrive when its picked up next week (have time to cancel if able to drive )
I’m beyond grateful for this milestone and eager to see where the next steps take me. If you’d like to view more of my available paintings, you can find them on my saatchi gallery and here -
